Do you know what an IPS display is?

339 deviants said No. I am probably using a terrible TN display, so all the photos I see are dumbed down.

I use a TN and pics look good on it. When i view pics on my IPS tv i am blown away by the colours. So yeah that concluded TN is crap for photography.

I think i know what it is, but Wikipedia often leaves me just as confused as when I started.
Either way, you completely forgot about CRTs here.
I left that at home when I moved out a week ago, though. How I miss my CRT.

I have the Viewsonic VX2433wm and your photos are just so colorful on it that I barely dare to look at them to not get overwhelmed :squee:
Why do so many people not have IPS displays? I would never ever thought so many people use old technology :eyepopping:

It's not old technology, it's just different. Cheaper to manufacture.

You know your monitor is TN, right?

No...I knew I would probably feel dumb when I get such an answer...

Oh well...my screen is not purple from a low angle, so I guess it is TN...

Now I have to go to some damn shop to have a look at a IPS panel to see if I can see any difference...darn.

But I really always felt my monitor was producing pretty good pictures :eyepopping:

Look at it from above, you'll see the colors get washed out

True. But I never look at it from that angle :)

Currently I am using the iMac 27 inch(IPS) on my computer. It's not the best, but for my current photography, it's good enough. If I can ever convince my wife to move to the High Sierras, I'll get a good one.

That's pretty good if you calibrate it :)
