Processing: Photomatix Pro 4.2 and Photoshop CS6 from 3 RAW exposures.

I am trying to figure out the waterline across the stump and the two rocks below and to the right of it ... seems too knife edge straight to be from nature

Double checked, and that's how it is in the raw files. It's a bit of a visual illusion - if you look very closely at the line you'll see that it's not nearly as straight as it first appears.

used my best glasses, and agree with you .... funny how the mind tells the eyes what they se instead of letting the eyes tell the story .... as an amature photographer I will think carefully about this lesson
