You can just make out Squamish in the distance, and, just above it - Stawamus Chief - a giant gray granite rock formation, popular with BC hikers and climbers. The morning fog was hiding from the sun in the Squamish Valley.

The shot is taken at about 8:45 am with Nikon D90 and 18-105VR with a polarizing filter.

Download includes up to 2560x1600, and 2560x1440.

Took me a moment to figure out which direction you were shooting Squamish from. A bit of a different view I'm not used to. Must have been quite the cold morning for you to be out there and catch that low lying fog :)

Excellent! I passed the Chief summer 2009, and intend to come back and hike to the top of it. :)

But why? :) The Chief is only good for some exercise - the views are nothing special. The hike itself goes through the forest all the way so you don't get to see anything until the very top. While there - nothing special either. There are tons of people there almost all the time.

If you are in the area, you should go to Garibaldi Lake which is an easy hike. If you've got some juice left go to Panorama Ridge or Black Tusk from Garibaldi lake. Second option would be Wedgemount Lake, or the place I went today - Elfin Lakes.

All of those are like a Ferrari compared to a Hyundai versus the Chief :)

I know, but The Chief is taunting me. :)

My girlfriend and I were planning to spend four days at Garibaldi Lake in late July. We were going to make that our base camp, then do day hikes to both Black Tusk and Panorama Ridge. The late snow melt forced us to change our plans. :(

Funny you should mention Wedgemount Lake and Elfin Lakes... both of those are also on my must-visit list! :)
