Description

Another shot from one of the nicest sunsets I've seen this year :)

Location: North arm of the Fraser River, Beautiful British Columbia, Canada.
Equipment: Nikon D90 + Tokina 11-16mm.
Technique: Photomatix Pro 4.1 and Photoshop CS5 from 3 RAW exposures.

It's interesting to see how the light changes within just a few minutes -

This feels rather left-weighted. In this shot, you have the grass/"shoreline" balance the sun on the other side.

On the other hand, the overall colors and the textures in the clouds are superior and more unique in this shot. But in the end, the better composed shot wins despite the far more interesting subject.

Furthermore, the grass seems to obscure the reflection of the clouds on the left. Another reason, I think, to lessen the amount of grass on the left side.

Good choice of frame size here. I think this particular one works better for this shot than the traditional, longer and horizontal one.

The sun/horizon line are also placed in a nice location.

In fact, aside from the aforementioned problem, this shot approaches perfection.
