This glacier has been retreating for a few hundred years now, and the last couple of years has been treating all visitors to a very cool spectacle.

really? maybe you didn't go back far enough, or maybe it was just that particular glacier. some glaciers have cave far back under them, with pools of water and ice "stalagmites" and "stalagtites"
