What I had was a beautiful foreground, and trashy sunsets - day after day. The colors just weren't there for me. That's OK, I am pretty happy with what I ended up with anyway
Download includes up to 2560x1600, and 2560x1440. Shot with Nikon D90 + Tokina 11-16mm in beautiful Puerto Vallarta, Mexico!
If you are curious, have a look at the colored version scrap for reference. I think B&W is definitely the way to go here.
This is such a grasping photo, but it isn't the forgeound that caught me, it's the background. The clouds, sun, and horizon have perfect harmony with eachother. Perhaps a faster ISO speed would have avoided blur in the shore waves and made the forgeound more interesting. Although, I think a different angle would add a better unity between the rocks/log and the shore.
The contrast is right on point. The whites in this photo are brilliant & alluring to the eye, while the blacks emphasize it. The rule of thirds could use a little work, but other than that, I think it's a wonderful photo.
